Two annual awards have been established to honour and reward excellence in teaching. The awards are Best Lecturer Award and Most Innovative Lecturer Award.
For 2014, the recipient of the Best Lecturer Award was Dr. Low Chee Soon from the Centre For Pre-University Studies. Mr. Low, besides being extremely passionate about teaching & learning and consistently receiving excellent teaching survey from students, has also produced the World’s Top Scorers in Mathematics exam paper in the Cambridge A Level Examination for the last two consecutive rounds of examinations. Dr. Low also was the recipient of the National Most Outstanding Educator Award (College Category) for year 2014.
For 2015, the Best Lecturer Award went to Tan Mei Hooi. She is from the School of Engineering, Computing and Built Environment. Besides consistently garnering excellent teaching evaluation scores from students, Ms. Tan has demonstrated a continual commitment to mentoring and counselling her students.
For 2016, there are two co-recipients of the Best Lecturer Award. They are Andrew Wilfred from the Department of Mass Communication and Lee Bui Bui from the Centre For Pre-University Studies. Two lecturers, Sarata from Department of Mass Communication and Maizul Affendy from Department of Design, were also commended for their use of innovative methods to help students learn.
